Part 1 - Application (Application Software Settings)

1. Localization (Region and Display Customization)

This section is designed to align the information environment with each user's financial preferences and language.


  • Language: Supports changing the interface language for easier understanding. Currently supports several major languages worldwide, such as English, Spanish, French, German, with new languages like Japanese and Portuguese continuously being added.

  • Fiat Currency: Users can select a real-world currency (e.g., USD, EUR, or THB) for the system to estimate and display cryptocurrency asset values according to real-time market prices.

  • Bitcoin Units: For those making small transactions or traders, you can switch between displaying the main unit (BTC) or the smallest unit, Satoshis (sats), to reduce confusion when counting decimal places.

2. Labeling (Labeling and Data Synchronization)

Managing a large number of assets requires a good accounting system. This feature is crucial for organizing wallet metadata.

  • Labeling (Main Control Switch): This system allows you to name your wallets, personalize accounts, and label transactions for easy tracking and organization.
  • Labels saved locally (Device-level storage): When Labeling is "On", the system stores these labels directly on the hard drive of that computer (Your labels are saved locally on your machine). You can click the green "Disconnect" button to unlink from the local database.

3. Privacy & Security (Software-level Privacy and Security)

This category is vital for protecting your data from malicious actors and surveillance.

  • Auto-eject Wallets (Force data deletion upon disconnection): Starting with the August 2025 update, the system's default allows users to view balances even when the device is disconnected (View-only wallets). However, for maximum security, you can enable the Auto-eject feature to force the system to erase balance data from the computer and mobile screen as soon as you unplug the Hardware Wallet.

  • Store Device Related Data (Storing Connected Device Data): This feature allows the computer to save device information and security verification status offline, reducing the time and speeding up subsequent connections.

  • Biometric Authentication (Biometric Identity Verification): On supported devices (e.g., smartphones, MacBooks, or Windows Hello systems), users can set up app locking with face scans (Face ID) or fingerprints (Touch ID) to prevent unauthorized individuals from opening the application and viewing portfolio data.

  • Tor (The Onion Router network): A feature to protect your digital footprint. When this feature is enabled, program traffic is forced through Tor network nodes, hiding your originating IP address and geographical location, making it impossible for anyone to trace the origin of transactions.

4. Application (App Display and Data Management)

  • Color Scheme: You can set the display to match the ambient lighting conditions while working, choosing between Light mode, Dark mode, or automatically adjusting according to your computer's operating system theme.
  • Address Display (Address Display Format): This feature is designed to prevent human error during Address Verification.
    • Continuous: Displays the address as a continuous string of characters and numbers.
    • Spaced: Displays the address divided into groups of words (with spaces) to reduce eye strain and help users compare it with the characters displayed on the Trezor hardware screen more quickly and accurately.

  • Anonymous Data Collection: This feature is a system for sending statistical data back to developers to analyze and improve Trezor Suite's stability. However, this system adheres to the highest privacy principles. All data sent is completely anonymous, and the system guarantees that no sensitive data such as account balances, transaction history, or your private keys will ever be collected. If you desire maximum privacy, you can choose to disable this feature.

  • Reset App to Default: A function for clearing cache data and settings saved on this computer (Local data) to restore it to factory defaults. This action is often used to resolve bugs or software malfunctions.

  • Application Log: A deep diagnostic tool for analyzing technical issues. If the software crashes or cannot connect to a node, clicking the "Show log" button will display engineering data that records system behavior. This is crucial for reference when you need to contact the Trezor Support team so engineers can quickly identify the root cause of the problem.

Security: Clicking this button provides 100% security for your assets because asset data and private keys are securely stored within the Secure Element chip of the Hardware Wallet device, not on the application itself.

  • Automatic Trezor Suite Updates: A proactive security mechanism. When this function is enabled, the software will automatically download patch files and the latest version in the background, and install them the next time you open the program.

  • Trezor Suite Version: Indicates the version number of the software currently running (in the image, version 25.12.2). Using the "Check for updates" button allows users to send a command to Trezor's servers to check for and manually fetch the latest updates for installation, in case automatic updates are not enabled.

5. Security (Network Protocol Level Security)

This feature is an innovation designed to protect your assets from unseen threats on Smart Contract blockchain networks.

  • MEV protection (Block-level value interference protection): MEV stands for Maximal Extractable Value, a phenomenon where transaction validators or bots attempt to interfere with the order of your transactions in the public Mempool to gain benefits, such as front-running (buying before you to make you pay a higher price) or sandwich attacks that cause you to lose value due to slippage.

Mechanism: When you enable this feature, Trezor Suite will adjust your transaction routing to be private, avoiding broadcasting transactions to the public Mempool. Instead, it will send them directly to trusted validators with an agreement to order transactions fairly.

Note: This feature is supported only on major EVM networks, including Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, and Base, helping you save on gas fees, reduce the chance of failed transactions, and get the fairest price.

6. Trezor Connect (System Integration and Backend)

This section manages the operation of Trezor Suite software in conjunction with your computer's operating system (OS) to ensure it's always ready for hardware connection.

  • Start Trezor Suite automatically: If enabled, the Trezor Suite software will start running as a background process immediately after you power on your computer and log in to Windows or macOS. This feature helps frequent transactors avoid waiting for the program to load each time they plug in their hardware.

  • Show icon in tray: This feature allows you to display the Trezor icon in the Taskbar (bottom right corner of Windows) or Menu Bar (top of macOS) so you can monitor the background operation status and access the program quickly.

7. Experimental (Innovation and Advanced Features)

This area serves as a lab for Trezor developers, offering advanced users the opportunity to test the latest technologies before anyone else.

  • Early Access Program: Clicking the green "Opt in" button registers your software to download Beta version updates. The advantage is that you get to use the latest tools before Trezor releases them to millions of general users.

  • Experimental features: The main switch to unlock tools under research and development (R&D). When enabled, a sub-menu of new features will appear, allowing you to individually toggle them on or off.

1. Wallet Backup (Recovery Phrase Verification)

  • Check wallet backup (Dry-run recovery system): This is a tool experts recommend using regularly. This feature allows you to "simulate recovery" (Dry-run recovery) to check if the written recovery seed you stored matches the wallet on the device. The system will ask you to enter words to verify accuracy on the device without having to risk actually wiping the device data.

2. Passphrase (Hidden Wallet)

  • Use passphrase wallets (hidden wallets): A cutting-edge security feature comparable to adding a "13th or 25th word" to a mathematical equation. When enabled, it allows you to create completely hidden wallets.

Risks to be aware of: This code is case-sensitive, and the hardware will not remember this passphrase. If you type even one character incorrectly, the system will immediately create a new, empty wallet. If you forget this code, no one in the world (not even Trezor) can recover your funds for you.

3. Firmware (Hardware Wallet Software)

This category is used to directly manage the operating system (OS) running on the Trezor chip, which affects security and support for various coins.

  • Version (Operating System Version): The system displays the current version number installed on your device (from the image, version 2.10.0) and has a green "Update available" button if a newer version is available.

  • Type (Software Type): This is an advanced feature that clearly differentiates general users from Bitcoin Maximalists.
  • Universal (Default): A universal firmware with code to support thousands of different Altcoins and tokens.
  • Switch to Bitcoin-only: If you click this button, Trezor will change the operating system to "Bitcoin-only," which will remove all code related to Altcoins and Smart Contracts.

  • Note: If you have Altcoins in your wallet and switch to Bitcoin-only firmware, those Altcoins "will not be lost" but Trezor Suite will not see them and will not display them on screen until you switch the firmware back to Universal.
  • Language (Device Screen Language): A new feature recently added to enhance user experience. You can directly change the language displayed on the "hardware wallet screen" (different from the Application tab, which only changes the language on the computer screen). This helps users read confirmation menus and other transactions on the small device screen more understandably and accurately.

4. Security (Device Security)

  • PIN (Hardware Wallet Passcode On/Off Feature): If a malicious person steals your device and tries to guess the PIN (Brute-force), the hardware system will progressively delay the entry time for each incorrect attempt. If 10 incorrect attempts are made, the processing chip will immediately wipe (delete) all assets and codes to prevent system infiltration.

Recommendation: This feature should always be enabled (green). Never disable the PIN code.

  • Change PIN: Used to update or change your PIN. If you suspect someone else has seen your PIN or feel your current PIN is too easy to guess, you can press this button to set a new one immediately. The system will first ask you to confirm your old PIN on the device screen for security, and then allow you to enter the new PIN.

  • Safety checks: This feature reflects Trezor's engineering flexibility, designed to prevent human error.

  • Strict (Default): The system will enforce the highest security standards. If you attempt an unusual transaction, such as setting excessively high fees (Extreme fees) or trying to transfer coins to the wrong network, the system will immediately block the transaction.

  • Prompt (Expert Mode): By pressing the "Change" button, you can lower the security level to Prompt. This mode allows advanced users or developers to perform "non-standard transactions" such as transferring coins across derivation paths between testnets and mainnets, or executing highly complex smart contracts.

Recommendation: The system is always set to Strict by default. If you need to switch to Prompt for a special transaction, experts recommend immediately switching back to Strict once completed.

  • Check device: The "Check device" button is a tool used to verify the "hardware integrity." When you press this button, the Trezor Suite software sends a "Mathematical Challenge" to the chip on the Trezor device. If the hardware and firmware are 100% genuine and unaltered, the chip will solve the equation and send back the correct Hash code.

5. Customization

  • Device name: A feature for assigning a specific name to your Hardware Wallet.

  • Homescreen: A feature that helps confirm your device's identity more easily. You can upload an image to display as the background on your Trezor screen.

If you wish to use Trezor's Homescreen, you can select the "Gallery" button.

  • Screen brightness: A feature for controlling power consumption and display. You can reduce brightness when using it indoors to protect your eyes, or increase it to maximum when you need to scan a QR Code from the Trezor screen.

  • Haptic feedback: When this feature is enabled, the Hardware Wallet's internal system will generate a gentle vibration (haptic) every time you touch the screen or press a button. (**This feature is only available in Trezor Safe 5 and Safe 7 models.)

  • Auto-lock: This feature allows you to set a timer for the Hardware Wallet to automatically disconnect and "lock itself" if there is no interaction.

6. Device connection

  • Auto-connect: Normally, when you connect your Trezor to a supported external application or platform (Trezor Connect), the system will always ask you to confirm authorization (Approve) for security. However, if you enable this feature, the system will remember and automatically connect the device to authorized applications in subsequent uses, skipping the confirmation step.

*** Note: This feature is designed for convenience and is suitable for those who regularly use a personal computer at home and are confident in the security of their environment. However, if you share a computer with others or use it on a work laptop, keeping this switch off (as shown in the image) is the safest practice.

  • Forget this device: When you use Trezor Suite, the software retrieves certain metadata (e.g., device profiles, view-only balances, or labels) and stores it as cache on the computer for faster application startup next time. Pressing the "Forget" button instructs the program to permanently delete data related to this Hardware Wallet from the computer's memory.

7. Danger Area (Danger Zone!!!)

[Notice that all buttons in this category are designed in "red" as a psychological warning symbol. The administrator must emphasize before using features in this category that: "DO NOT press any buttons in this category unless you are absolutely sure you have the correct recovery seed written down."]

  • Wipe device (Factory Reset): A feature to revert the Hardware Wallet to "factory default" condition. When this button is pressed, the processing chip will overwrite and permanently destroy Private Keys, Wallet Backup, labels, and PINs stored in the device's memory.

  • Set up wipe code (Self-destruct PIN): This feature allows you to create a "fake PIN" (separate from your main unlock PIN). If you are in a dangerous situation and forced to unlock your wallet, as soon as you enter this wipe code on the Trezor screen, the Secure Element chip will act like a time bomb, initiating a "complete wipe" of all data immediately.

  • Install custom firmware: This feature is open to developers, following the Open-source philosophy. It allows advanced users to install older versions of the operating system (Downgrade) or custom-written firmware for system testing.

Part 3 - Coins (Coin and Network Settings)

1. Coins (Mainnet Management)

This section is the dashboard for configuring which blockchain data you want Trezor Suite to synchronize and display on your portfolio screen.

Token Integration and Staking (Ecosystem Integration): Note that under coin names like Ethereum, Solana, and Cardano, there is a description "Incl. tokens & staking." This means that, technically, when you enable the main network (Layer 1), the system will automatically pull all sub-tokens running on that network (e.g., ERC-20 on Ethereum or SPL on Solana), as well as staking features, for your use.

2. Testnet (Test Network Environment)

This area is for developers and users who want to experiment with the system without risking real money. Networks like Bitcoin Testnet, Ethereum Sepolia, or Solana Devnet are parallel networks created for testing. Coins in these networks (Test Coins) "have no real-world value" and are used for experimenting with complex transactions (e.g., Coin Control, RBF transaction acceleration, or setting up a private node).

3. Advanced Features: Hidden Features (Custom Backend & Block Explorer)

Even if not visible on the screen, if you "hover your mouse" over any coin (e.g., Bitcoin), a "gear icon" will appear. This is a feature for the highest level of security and privacy in Trezor Suite.

3.1 Custom Backend (Running a Private Node)

By default, Trezor Suite retrieves your balance information through SatoshiLabs' servers (Trezor's parent company), which is secure and does not collect data. However, for those who adhere to the "Don't Trust, Verify" principle, this section can be configured to force Trezor to retrieve data from your own Full Node (supporting both Blockbook and Electrum Server) by entering the address in host:port:protocol format (e.g., 192.168.1.100:50001:t for a local network, or connecting via Tor with an .onion address).

3.2 Custom Block Explorer (Customizing Block Explorer Tool)

When you view transaction details in the browser, Trezor will take you to a standard Block Explorer (e.g., trezor.io/explorer). However, you can change the Root URL on this page to point to your own private Block Explorer (e.g., an instance of mempool.space running on your machine) to prevent external service providers from knowing your IP address or tracking your transaction search behavior.
