How to set up SeedQR on Blockstream Jade/Jade Plus

There are two ways to create a SeedQR, depending on the status of your device.

1. Creating during the initial device setup.

2. Creating after the device has already been set up.

1. Creating during the initial device setup

If you're setting up your Blockstream Jade for the first time, here's how:

• Go to the Setup Jade menu.
• Select Advanced Setup.
• A warning will appear, urging you to proceed with caution.
• Select Create New wallet.

• In Advanced Mode, you can choose between a 12 or 24-word Seed Phrase.
• Carefully write down your Seed Phrase and verify its accuracy.
• After you have written down and verified your Seed Phrase, the system will ask if you want to create a SeedQR.
• Answer Yes.
• The system will then ask if you are ready to draw (record) the SeedQR.
• If ready, answer Yes.

• The system will prompt you to draw the SeedQR.
• The vertical columns are represented by letters A, B, C, etc.
• The horizontal rows are represented by numbers 1, 2, 3, etc.
• You must start drawing in the A1 box, which is the top-leftmost box.
• Follow the steps until completed.

• Once you have drawn (recorded) the SeedQR, the system will ask you to scan it with your Jade.
• After the scan is complete, you are done. You can then proceed with the normal device setup.

2. Creating after the device has already been set up

If your Jade is already in use or set up, you can still access your SeedQR. Here's how:

• Go to Options menu.
• Select Temporary Signer.
• Choose to restore the wallet by typing your Seed Phrase.

• Enter your Seed Phrase.
• Once you've completed entering your Seed Phrase, the system will ask if you want to display the SeedQR.
• Answer Yes.
• The system will then ask if you are ready to draw (record) the SeedQR.
• If ready, answer Yes.

• The system will prompt you to draw the SeedQR.
• Once you have drawn (recorded) the SeedQR, the system will ask you to scan it with your Jade.
• After the scan is complete, you are done.

3. How to restore a wallet using SeedQR

• Start by setting up your Jade device as usual.
• When you reach the "Create New Wallet" and "Restore Wallet" menu, select Restore Wallet.
• Select Scan QR.
• Prepare your SeedQR and use your Jade to scan it.
• After the scan is complete, the system will ask you how you want to connect. The subsequent steps will follow the normal device setup process.

4. Precautions

• Never capture SeedQR as a digital file. Since SeedQR encrypts your Seed Phrase, never take screenshots, photos with your phone, or upload any digital files of SeedQR to the cloud or any internet-connected device. Treat it with the same level of security as your Seed Phrase. If someone gains access to your SeedQR, it's equivalent to them having your Seed Phrase and being able to access your funds.
