Welcome to the world of "Self-Custody," a top-tier experience. By choosing the Trezor Safe 7, you are prioritizing both security and user experience. This model features a vibrant color touchscreen and haptic feedback, making setup as easy as using a smartphone.
This guide will break down the steps into an easy-to-understand format and walk you through them one by one.
Checklist: What to prepare before starting
Before plugging in the USB cable or connecting wirelessly via Bluetooth, clear your desk and prepare these items:
- Trezor Safe 7: If you've just purchased a new one, check the external condition of the box. There should be no signs of tampering, and most importantly, the "security seal" on the box must be intact and unbroken.
Caution: If you find any irregularities or if the seal has been opened, do not use it under any circumstances. Contact the distributor or Bitcast immediately.
- USB-C cable: Included in the box (can be used to connect to Android devices, or you can choose to use Bluetooth).
- Paper or word card: The sturdy card for writing down words included in the box.
- Pen: Get one ready to write down your Recovery Seed.
- Computer or laptop or mobile phone (Important!): Works with Windows, macOS, Linux.
- Free time: Approximately 15 minutes to ensure you can focus completely.
Getting Started (Step-by-Step)
Step 1 (Download and Install Trezor Suite)
Security starts here. You must only use the genuine application from the official source.
- Open the App Store (for iOS) or Google Play Store (for Android) on your mobile phone.
- Search for the application "Trezor Suite."
- Caution: Do not search for "Trezor Suite" on Google Search and click on sponsored links (Ads) at the top, as these may be fake (phishing) websites created by hackers. Download directly from the store and check that the developer name is "Trezor Company" only.

Step 2 (Connect and Install Firmware)
All new Trezor devices do not come with pre-installed firmware to ensure that the software you use is the latest and most secure version. Therefore, you need to install the firmware yourself.
- Enable pairing mode: Turn on your Trezor Safe 7 and enable Bluetooth on your mobile phone.
- Start connection: Open the Trezor Suite app on your mobile phone, tap "Connect" and choose to connect via Bluetooth. The system will search for nearby devices. Select your "Trezor Safe 7" to pair.

- Verify that the code in parentheses () displayed on the mobile phone screen matches the code displayed on the Trezor.

- Verify that the number displayed on your mobile phone screen matches the number on your Trezor Safe 7 and tap "Confirm" to confirm the device.

- Allow Trezor Suite on your mobile phone to pair with your Trezor Safe 7 by tapping "Confirm" to verify.

- Enter the number displayed on the Trezor Safe 7 on your mobile phone screen to confirm the device again.

- Enter setup: Once connected and the code is confirmed, tap the "Start setup" button on your mobile phone screen.

- Install Firmware: Tap "Install Firmware" or "Update Firmware" (if already installed). The system will download and install the latest OS version to your Trezor via Bluetooth. Wait until the loading bar is full and a green checkmark ✅ appears, then tap "Continue" to proceed.

- Security check: The system will automatically perform a security check to verify that the chip in the device is genuine.

Step 3 (Create New Wallet)
Once the firmware installation is complete, the system will prompt you to choose between recovering an existing wallet or creating a new one. Do the following:
- For new users, click the "Create new wallet" button (the + sign) to start creating a new wallet.
- Selecting Backup Type (Very Important): The system will give you options to choose from.
- Recommendation: Choosing the Legacy Wallet Backup option (which typically consists of 12 or 24 words) is the best choice for most users.
- Why 12 or 24 words? Because it is a globally recognized standard (BIP-39) that is highly popular and sufficiently secure. The most important aspect is its "flexibility." If your Trezor device is damaged or lost in the future, you can use these 12 or 24 words to recover your wallet on other hardware wallets that support the same standard, without being locked into Trezor.
- Tap the confirm button on the Trezor device to proceed to the word writing step.

Step 4 (Writing down the Seed Phrase (Most important!))
This step is the most critical part of this article. The system will randomly generate English words (it could be 12 or 24 words, depending on your settings) (the example uses 12 words).
- Grab the paper or recovery card.
- The Trezor screen will display words one by one, large and easy to read. Write them down on the paper, one word at a time, in the correct numerical order (1, 2, 3...) with every character correct.
- Scroll through the words by swiping your finger on the screen or tapping the arrow buttons on the Trezor screen to view the next word.
- Once you've written them all down, the system will ask you to verify them (e.g., "What is word number 5?"). You can tap to select the correct answer on the Trezor screen.
⛔ Golden Security Rules (Must do!):
* DO NOT take photos of your Seed Phrase or save it on your mobile phone or computer.
* DO NOT save it as a digital file or upload it to the Cloud.
* Keep this piece of paper in the safest and most secret place, because "anyone who has this paper can access all of your funds."

Step 5 (Set up PIN code)
The PIN Code is used to protect your device from unauthorized physical access (like a phone password). For Trezor Safe 7, all settings are done on the device screen itself.
- Start setup: On your mobile phone screen (Trezor Suite), "Set your Trezor's PIN" will appear.
- How to enter the code on Trezor Safe 7
- The screen will display a keypad.
- Use your finger to set your desired code (4-50 digits).
- You will feel a gentle vibration (Haptic) each time you press, ensuring the press is registered.
- Confirm code
- Once you have selected all desired numbers, press the checkmark (✓).
- Re-enter PIN
- The system will ask you to re-enter the same code to prevent errors. Follow the same steps.
- Once completed, the screen will display a success message.
Tips for setting up your code
- Set a difficult-to-guess code (avoid using easily predictable codes such as 1234, 1111).
- Entering the code on the Trezor Safe 7 device itself is considered the safest method, as the password is not transmitted via USB cable or Bluetooth to the mobile phone. This means hackers cannot possibly know your code.

Step 6 (Activate Coin and Finish)
Once the PIN is set, the screen will show that it is complete.
- You can choose "Activate assets" to immediately display the coin wallets you want to use, such as Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Dogecoin, etc.
- Click "Confirm selection" to go to the main Dashboard page.

Congratulations! Your Trezor Safe 7 is now ready to serve as a "fortress" protecting your digital assets. As long as you keep your Seed Phrase (the 12 or 24 words written on paper) safe, your coins will be secure forever.
Not your keys, not your coins.
