What's interesting about this year's Bitcoin Pizza Day 2024 event?

This year's Bitcoin Pizza Day had several enjoyable sessions covering various topics. Mr. Tendo from the Right Shift team hosted the event.

Session 1: "What is Satca?"

We started with P' Bit, who shared his impressive journey over the past 8 years in helping to drive the Thai Bitcoin Community to gain correct knowledge and understanding. At this event, P' Bit also launched the Satca (Satoshi Cost Average) app, which helps DCA Bitcoin consistently according to our plan. It can be used through supported exchanges like Binance and Bitkub. Once we set up our DCA, the system automatically buys Bitcoin and transfers it to a Hardware Wallet. This is suitable for DCA enthusiasts and beginners who want to steadily accumulate Bitcoin. You can try it out here.

Session 2: The Evolution of Lightning Network to Nostr?

Professor King from the Right Shift team guided us through understanding the Lightning Network. What is the Lightning Network? Why was it created? The Lightning Network is Bitcoin's Layer 2, designed to solve the problem of supporting a large number of transactions to achieve scalability. It helps make Bitcoin fast and low-fee, making it suitable for daily use.

Currently, we can use the Lightning Network through custodial wallets like Lightning Wallet, Alby, or non-custodial wallets such as Blixt wallet, Breez wallet, and Phoenix wallet.

Additionally, there is a social network without algorithms or annoying advertisements, where no one controls the content. This is the freedom that other social networks cannot offer—Nostr (Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays). Many users from X or Twitter have switched to Nostr. Furthermore, Nostr allows you to "Zap" people or content you like through the Lightning Network, quickly and almost free of charge, without sharing revenue with anyone else.

Session 3: “What to do when mom asks if she should buy Bitcoin?”

In this session, Peerapat Harnkongkaew, Chief Investment Officer of Cryptomind Advisory Co., Ltd., discussed a classic question many have encountered from relatives or close friends: When is the best time to buy Bitcoin? Is the price at its lowest yet? "If I knew, I wouldn't be working," Mr. Harn did not say, but I (the admin) said it myself. Mr. Harn recommended using the MVRV Indicator, which shows the average profit of most people at the moment. This helps us identify market lows and highs to determine when to accumulate and when to take profits. It’s important to reiterate that Bitcoin is still a risky asset that needs to prove itself, and investors must do their own research.

Dr. Napapach Piyachaikul, founder of The BIG Secret page, also shared insights on Bitcoin investment, emphasizing the need for explanation and mutual understanding across different generations and family age groups. Dr. Big believes that Bitcoin is at a historically transformative point worth following, and what changes will unfold in the next 5 or 10 years remains to be seen.

Session 4: Binance TH's Small Steps to Greatness

Mr. Nirun Fuwattananukul, CEO of Gulf Binance Co., Ltd., stated, "Thailand ranks among the top 10 countries globally in crypto adoption, a figure that reflects the potential for both growth and innovation. This led Gulf Binance to launch the Binance TH by Gulf Binance platform in Thailand, adhering to SEC regulations. Currently, it offers over 150 digital assets, making it the most extensive selection in Thailand. In the future, Binance TH by Gulf Binance will continue to educate and raise awareness about digital assets to foster a robust digital asset industry in Thailand."

Session 5: Using Bitcoin in Real Life (Medium of Exchange)

Professor Tum Piriyaphan Samsuwan, Executive Director of Chalok.com Co., Ltd. and founder of Right Shift, discussed the challenges of using Bitcoin as a medium of exchange in real life. For example, currently, we cannot use Bitcoin to buy general goods. The most crucial factor is that the recipient must be willing to accept Bitcoin. Most merchants (store owners) prefer to convert it into currency that can be circulated to further their businesses.

Comparing the price of Bitcoin on May 22, 2010 (Bitcoin Pizza Day), 10,000 BTC (worth approximately 730 million USD) was used to buy two pizzas. If we compare this to today, with pizza prices around 18 USD per pie, we could buy approximately 45 million pizzas. This is one example illustrating that Bitcoin is an asset that truly preserves value. In reality, we are not getting richer; rather, money is depreciating daily due to those in power continuously creating money out of thin air.

Session 6: Q&A with the ladies of the crypto industry

This final session had the honor of featuring Ms. Ploy from Ploy Talk, Ms. Mo from Lady Crypto, and Ms. Naomi from Naomi joining us for a discussion at the end. Many questions were submitted via Slido.
