Design and new features of Trezor Safe 5 Hardware wallet
Many people who have seen the Trezor Safe 5 might be reminded of the Trezor Model T that Trezor released about 4 years ago, in early 2018, which was Trezor's first hardware wallet with a touchscreen. In 2024, the Trezor Safe 5 was released, which has a design quite similar to the Trezor Model T, but its internal features are more similar to an upgraded Trezor Safe 3 making it easier to use.

Touchscreen
The 1.54-inch color touchscreen with a resolution of 240x240 px is quite similar in size to the Trezor Model T.
Haptic Engine
It comes with haptic feedback, which means the screen vibrates when touched. Many people may have experienced this on their mobile phones. This improves the user experience as it provides confirmation when tapping the screen. If a tap is successful, the haptic engine vibrates, letting you know that the button has been pressed, for example, when confirming a transaction.
All-Glass Surface
The screen on this model uses Gorilla® Glass 3, which is scratch-resistant and used by many mobile phone manufacturers for their phone screens, also adding to its aesthetic appeal.
Advanced Multi-share Backup
What is Advanced Multi-share Backup, and what is its purpose? Advanced Multi-share Backup, also known as Shamir Backup, allows you to split your Recovery Seed into multiple parts, configured to your preference, for recovery purposes. For example, if you create 3 sets of Recovery Seeds (each set having different words) and store them in different locations, such as with your mother, at the bank, and with yourself. If you need to recover, you can use any 2 out of the 3 sets. The advantage is that if one set of Recovery Seeds is lost, you can still recover your wallet. Or, if someone steals one set of your Recovery Seeds, they cannot do anything with it because they only have one part. This significantly reduces the risk of theft.

Price
Trezor is offering pre-orders at $169 (approximately 6,300 baht, excluding VAT in Thailand), with deliveries starting in July.

I chose based on similar design and features, such as a touchscreen or haptic engine vibration system, like the Keystone 3 Pro or OneKey Pro.
Keystone 3 Pro
If you've read the article I wrote about the value of the Keystone 3 Pro, you might be biased towards the Keystone 3 Pro over the Trezor Safe 5. In my opinion, Trezor Safe 5 is designed for ease of use, providing a better user experience with its touchscreen and Haptic Engine, making it feel more like using a smartphone. This seems to be an evolution of the Trezor Model T.
The value depends on your usage. If you primarily use a mobile phone, Trezor Safe 5 might not be the best fit. It's likely more suitable for those who prefer using it with a computer and desire a touchscreen experience.
